Starfire Golf Club - Scottsdale, Arizona
Located in north central Scottsdale, Starfire Golf Club is the oldest golf course in the area. Built in 1953, Starfire Golf Club offers two 18-hole courses. Both courses offer many interesting tests of skill and strategy for the average and low-handicap player, as well as affording all players captivating views of the nearby McDowell Mountains.
This beautifully situated club, lined with mature eucalyptus and cottonwood trees, boasts some of the more interesting playing in the state. The course's signature hole, #8 on the East Course, is a scenic and demanding par three that is easily among Arizona's best, playing 195-215 yards from the back tees, you are treated to an elevated tee but it's immediately challenged by the imposing lake and bunkers which guard the green on three sides. The "King" Nine was designed by Arnold Palmer, who also redesigned the Squire and Hawk nines, adding to their complexity with bunkers and water hazards.
